Description

MicroScanix is a portable micro-XRF system designed for elemental imaging and localized analysis where spatial resolution is as important as elemental composition. It is particularly suited to cultural heritage, conservation science, materials research, and laboratory or field investigations requiring elemental maps rather than single-point screening alone. A micro-focused X-ray beam, high-resolution SDD detector, camera-assisted positioning, and motorized stages make it possible to scan surfaces and generate pixel-by-pixel compositional information. This helps users study heterogeneity, pigment distribution, inclusions, corrosion, surface treatments, and micro-scale material variations with a portable platform that can be deployed outside conventional laboratory settings.

Technique: portable micro-XRF elemental imaging. Spatial resolution: down to approx. 55 µm, depending on working distance and configuration. Detector: SDD, 25 mm² standard, 70 mm² optional, energy resolution <125 eV at 5.9 keV. X-ray tube: ceramic-metal grounded-cathode tube, 25 kV nominal, up to 10 W, target selected according to application. XRF range: approx. 1.5–25 keV. Analysis speed: approx. 0.1–1 s per pixel, longer for point analysis. Motorized stages: 150 × 150 mm² standard, 300 × 300 mm² optional. Dimensions/weight: approx. 25 × 14 × 8 cm; below 1.6 kg. Software: GUI acquisition; compatible with common XRF mapping/data formats.
