ICP Sample Introduction Systems
The sample introduction system is a critical component of both ICP-OES and ICP-MS instruments. The design of the sample introduction system affects all aspects of performance, including sensitivity, stability, washout, memory, matrix tolerance, sample compatibility and also oxide level and isotope ratio precision in the case of ICP-MS. In addition, the purity of the materials that come into contact with the sample directly impact the level of the analytical blank. Savillex has over 30 years experience in fluoropolymer molding and unmatched expertise in the design and molding of PFA components for trace metal analysis. Our PFA digestion vials are the gold standard for geochemistry labs around the world, measuring metals at the picogram and femtogram level.
And like our digestion vials, we manufacture all of our ICP sample introduction products from the highest purity grades of PFA available, with the lowest trace metal content. And we use proprietary clean technology during the molding process to prevent contamination. Because all our molding, manufacture, assembly and testing is done in-house, we have complete control of our product quality. All our designs are intensively tested on ICP-MS in our own facility in Eden Prairie, MN, USA. Savillex ICP sample introduction products are supplied as standard equipment by instrument manufacturers around the world, and like them, you can rely on Savillex products 100%.

PFA - Chemical Resistance
PFA is an excellent choice for sample introduction systems because it resists the most aggressive organic and inorganic chemicals and solvents over the broadest temperature range, including:
strong mineral acids (including HF)
inorganic bases
inorganic oxidizing agents
salt solutions
aldehydes
chlorocarbons
organic acids
anhydrides
aromatics
alcohols
ketones
esters
fluorocarbons
PFA is only attacked by certain halogenated complexes containing fluorine, molten sodium and potassium.

Savillex Corporation is your complete source for custom injection molded PFA and fluoropolymer solutions. With over 30 years experience manufacturing a full range of of laboratory, proprietary and custom products, our experience and committment to quality is unsurpassed.

The production rate of high purity acid depends on the temperature setting on the controller: on HIGH setting, acid is produced at approx. 40mL/hr. On the LOW setting, acid is produced at approx. 8mL/hr. Acid purity is not affected by the production rate - even on the HIGH setting, 10ppt quality acid is produced. Since the acid temperature only reaches 90deg.C on the HIGH setting, boiling conditions can never be achieved, so the acid produced is always of high (sub-boiling) purity. The lower temperature settings are useful for when the DST-1000 is operated unattended over a weekend, since the lower production rate means the acid is not distilled to dryness. When the remaining acid volume in the chamber reaches 50-100mL, the heater is switched off and after cooling, the residual acid is drained to waste. The process is shown in the video below.
The DST-1000 is extremely simple to install and requires no cooling water supply. With a footprint of only 36.5cm x 20cm, and a height of only 59cm, the DST-1000 will fit into the smallest fume hoods. The controller is connected via a 3m cord and is designed to be placed outside the fume hood.
DST-1000 Technical Features
Schematic Diagram of the DST-1000
The DST-1000 comprises of a 2L PFA vessel, the lower part of which is surrounded by an electric heating mantle. Trace metal grade acid (up to 1L) is added to the vessel via a PFA funnel (all wetted parts are PFA). Power is supplied to the heating mantle by a variable temperature controller with three temperature settings: LOW, MED and HIGH. The acid is gently heated, and high purity acid vapor is produced by the process of sub-boiling distillation (see below). The acid vapor condenses on the vessel walls and is collected in a channel which drains into a Purillex PFA collection bottle. Vents allow air into the vessel as the acid is distilled, and allow displaced air out of the bottle as it fills. Both vents are fitted with PTFE membranes, which prevent airborne contamination from entering the system.

Prodotti correlati
